TALK your free chat room

Safety

Two tools do most of the work here: blocking, which is instant and needs nobody's permission, and reporting, which puts a conversation in front of a person. Both are one command in the chat.

Blocking someone

Type Block <name> into the chat, using the name exactly as it appears beside their messages.

To undo one, open the grey settings button and tap the blocked person's name, and what they said comes back. You can block up to 200 people in one visit.

You do not need a reason and you do not have to argue first. Blocking someone who is simply irritating is a perfectly good use of it.

Reporting someone

Type report <name>, or report <name> why to add a reason. There is also a report form behind the grey settings button.

A report takes a copy of the last 20 lines of the room so that whoever reads it can see what actually happened, rather than one line out of context. That copy is kept for 90 days — longer than the chat itself, which is explained on your data.

You can file 5 reports in quick succession before the site asks you to slow down. Reporting the same person twice for the same thing does not speed anything up.

Report anything illegal, anyone threatening someone, and anyone pressuring or grooming another person. If you are in immediate danger, contact the police first; a report here is not an emergency service.

Flooding

Sending more than 5 messages in 5 seconds stops you sending for 60 seconds. The room tells you, and you can still read everything while it lasts.

It applies to everyone, so someone spamming a room is silenced without anyone having to act. If it keeps happening, report them.

You are talking to strangers

Anonymity cuts both ways. Nobody here has proved who they are — not their age, not their gender, not their name, not their reasons for being in the room. Treat what people tell you about themselves as unverified, because it is.

A room is public. Anyone in it can read everything said in it, and anyone with the link can walk in. A private message (@name message) is hidden from other people in the room, but the person you send it to can still screenshot it, repeat it, or attach it to a report.

Keep personal information to yourself

Do not post, and do not answer questions about:

Details are cumulative. A first name, a football team and a school mentioned across an evening can identify someone. If a conversation starts collecting them, leave the room — you owe a stranger no explanation.

If you arrange to meet someone

Treat it as meeting a stranger, because it is.

Over 18s only

This site is for adults. Pressing START confirms you are over 18; it does not check, and we cannot tell. If you are under 18, this is not a site for you.

If you believe you are talking to a child, do not carry on the conversation. Report it, and contact the police or your national child protection body.

What this site cannot do

Being straight about the limits is part of being safe here.

Blocking is the tool that works immediately and without anybody else. Use it early.
