TALK your free chat room

Terms

Using TALK means accepting what is on this page. It is written to be read, not to be impressive, so it is short.

1. You have to be over 18

This site is for adults. Pressing START confirms that you are 18 or over. It is a confirmation, not a check — we have no way of verifying anyone's age. If you are under 18, do not use the site.

2. Nothing illegal

Do not use TALK to do any of this:

We report illegal material to the relevant authorities and cooperate with lawful requests from them. We can remove a room, delete its contents or block access at any time, without notice and without explanation.

3. What is collected

When you use the site we store:

There is no email address, no password, no phone number and no payment information, because none of it is asked for. Your data sets out the detail, including the cookie.

4. Your messages are not private

Every room is public, and anyone with the link can join it. Messages are stored unencrypted, and whoever runs the site can read them — including private messages, which are hidden from other people in the room but not from us.

In practice, messages are read when a report is filed: filing one copies the surrounding 20 lines of the room into the report so that a person can judge it.

Do not type anything here you would mind being read, kept, screenshotted or repeated.

5. How long things are kept

6. What you post is yours, and your responsibility

You keep whatever rights you have in what you type. You give us permission to show it to other people in the room and to store it for as long as section 5 says — that is all the permission the site needs to work.

You are responsible for what you send. We do not check messages before they appear and we do not endorse them.

7. The site is provided as it is

TALK is free and is offered without any guarantee. It can be slow, unavailable, or changed; rooms and messages can disappear; the whole site can stop. Nothing here promises uptime, delivery of a message, or that anything you typed will still be there later.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for what happens through your use of the site, including anything another user says or does. Nothing in these terms limits liability where the law does not allow it to be limited.

8. We can stop you using it

Access can be withdrawn at any time, particularly for anything in section 2. Since there are no accounts, this is blunt: a room can be deleted or the site closed to a network, and there is no appeal process.

9. Changes

These terms can change. The current version is always the one on this page, and using the site after a change means accepting it.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms, and legal requests, go to contact@talkchat.social. To report something someone said, type report <name> in the room instead: that reaches a moderator with the context attached (see Safety).
